Mozilla vs Chrome – Mozilla’s Metro Style Firefox model for Windows 8
Mozilla achieved success for one more steps forward in its competition to deliver a Metro style browser ready for functioning with Windows 8. Mozilla announced Metro style user interface and files support for some key Windows 8 features.
Earlier, Mozilla’s Brian R. Bondy declared that a group of his company had created a “working Firefox Windows 8 Metro prototype”.
Taking into consideration that development started only a very few weeks ago, the development to date is acceptable. Part of the reason for the sped up progress is the team’s capability to use the present Firefox mobile browser, Fennec. Amazingly, Fennec “just worked” on Windows 8, in pointed evaluation to the efficiency problems they encountered using the similar code base on Android.
Assistance for Metro snap, the HTML file picker, and Windows 8 search agreement are integrated in prototype app. That last mentioned piece is significant, as it enables the Metro style Firefox to approach search terms inserted in the Windows search box.
The prototype facilitates the share agreement that indicates a page started out in the Metro style Firefox can be shared simply with other apps, such as Mail or a Twitter or Facebook client.
For Mozilla, the primary opponent is Google, which has a Metro style edition of Chrome in the works and has almost limitless development options.
Earlier, Mozilla has said it desires to have a beta of Metro Firefox offered for common use prior to the end of 2012.
